CHATHAM’S ORGANIC DAIRY FARM TIMELINE

Chatham’s Organic Dairy – small family – big passion for organic farming

Dairy farming has been in our blood for generations.

Before marrying in 1942 Margaret and Bert Chatham both grew up on dairy farms.  After their wedding, Bert first farmed in partnership with his eldest sister in Little Wenlock.   Shortly after the birth of their eldest daughter, Isabel, Bert and Margaret moved to Brockton Grange where the family still farm today.

Margaret and Bert went on to have four children and in 1975 they passed the everyday running of the farm onto their son, Allan.  Allan and his wife Angela (also from farming stock) continued the family tradition and in 1998, inspired by the positive impact organic farming has on land, animals and people, they began their 2 year conversion to farming organically. The family have been passionate about farming organically ever since.

Today Allan and Angela’s son James and his young family live on the farm.  James is lucky to work with a small dedicated team including herdsman Chris, who after over 20 years working here is practically part of the family.
